Tiering for the Developers
ESOF AppSec MASA L1
The L1 tier offers a one-time mobile application security assessment with a single revalidation cycle. It includes vulnerability analysis, remediation support, and a MASA certificate from TAC Security, a Google ADA MASA Assessor.
ESOF AppSec MASA L2
The L2 tier provides a one-time mobile application security assessment with unlimited revalidation cycles. It includes AI-powered analysis, full vulnerability remediation support, and a MASA certificate from TAC Security, ensuring your app’s compliance with Google’s security standards.
How would the process work in L1 Assessment?
- The lab will evaluate the public version of the app (available on the Play Store) using automation tools and provide a questionnaire for developers to confirm their compliance with a subset of MASA requirements.
- Once all issues are remediated the lab will submit a validation report to Google
How would the process work in L2 Assessment?
- The developer selects a TAC Security Authorized Assessor and signs an SOW with the assessor to initiate the process and pay for the assessment.
- The assessor downloads the APK file from the play store which is the public version of the app.
- The lab conducts the assessment scan and manual assessment on the application.
- We will give the developer a thorough report with pass/fail issues, screenshots of failed issues, and recommendations for fixing any issues that are discovered.
- The assessor validates that all failed issues are remediated and submits a validation report to Google.
- The developer can earn the Independent Security Review badge by answering “Yes” to the question, “Has your app (or library/SDK) been independently validated against an external global security standard?” in the Data Safety section of the Google Play Console.
